Goal 1: Student Achievement

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS SBAC/CAASPP Goals:

• By Spring 2024, The overall SBAC ELA Distance from Standard (DFS) will increase by 3 points or more, both overall and for all significant subgroups (Economically Disadvantaged, Special Education, and Hispanic)

MATHEMATICS SBAC/CAASPP Goals:

• By Spring 2024, The overall SBAC Math Distance from Standard (DFS) will increase by 3 points or more, both overall and for all significant subgroups (Economically Disadvantaged, Special Education, and Hispanic)

For both ELA and Math CAASPP assessments, Rolling Hills’ goal is to see accelerated growth of our subgroup population, most specifically our Special Education. For our Special Education population, Rolling HIlls’ goal is to increase our DFS by 10 points as measured by the Spring 2024 CAASPP ELA and Math Assessments.

• Implement our school-wide instructional model aligned to effective instructional strategies and best practices by implementing standards-based instruction and a guaranteed and viable curriculum. 

• School-wide focus on providing support for special education students.

• Instructional focus on early literacy skills across grade levels with the implementation of Heggerty and Ortham-Gillingham instructional practices in Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 instructional groups. 

• Instruction in writing occurs across the curriculum (math and science notebooks, Writers' Workshop, etc.)

• Focus on tier II interventions within the instructional day

• Visit classrooms regularly and provide high-quality feedback

• Hold regular grade-level PLC meetings where teachers analyze data and address what students are expected to learn, how student learning will be measured, what support will be available for students who are not learning, and how student knowledge will be extended for those that already know the expected learning outcomes

• Collaborative work amongst grade level teams and vertical articulation to share/create common formative assessments, evaluate student results, and discuss best practices for responding to student needs

• Provide multi-tiered systems of support for students who are not yet meeting proficiency (Response to Intervention and Instruction), including a full-time RtI coach that provides staff and students with ongoing academic support in the area of ELA and a full-time RtI coach for academic support in the area of Math

• Provide ongoing opportunities for professional development to support staff in implementing STEAM curriculum, GATE strategies, technology integration, Thinking Maps, NGSS, Writers’ Workshop, Marzano Instructional Strategies, MTSS, PBIS, RtI, PLCs, CGI, Go Math, and Balanced Literacy

• Program Specialist support, especially in the area of math, with the implementation of supplemental math strategies to engage students in math instruction.  

• Continue our work on High-Reliability Schools and focus on strong instructional practices aligned throughout all grade levels. 

Goal 2: Digital and Informational literacy

All Rolling Hills students and staff will have access to high-quality digital tools, resources, and professional learning. All students will have opportunities to access engaging online instructional resources and will be able to demonstrate digital and informational literacy skills as well as development toward mastery of 21st-century learning skills in support of relevant and rigorous learning.

• Focus on 21st-century learning skills and digital/informational literacy to increase rigor and levels of cognition in every classroom (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity)

• Integrate technology in all grade levels

• Focus on providing opportunities for applying 21st-century skills and digital/informational literacy across content areas and for a competency-based approach to learning

• Support innovative learning methods that integrate the use of supportive technologies, inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and higher-order thinking

• Use technology to access curriculum, reinforce skills, and extend learning

• Explicitly teach Digital Citizenship lessons through Common Sense Media resources

• Technology, Library, and Media Assistant to provide consistent instruction in digital and informational literacy when students visit the Media Center

Goal 3: Safe and Secure Environment

Rolling Hills will provide a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for all members of our school community while also focusing on the social-emotional health and well-being of all staff and students.

• • Continue work as a High-Reliability School to ensure a safe and collaborative school culture

  • Provide multi-tiered systems of support for promoting positive behavior amongst students and a positive school culture 

  • Implementation of positive behavior interventions and supports

  • Provide mental health counselor to support students behaviorally and social-emotionally

  • Implementation of Second Step social-emotional learning curriculum at every grade level

  • Promote positive relationships among adults, between adults and students, and among students

  • Support excellence in attendance and participation in all school activities.

  • Support school-wide activities such as assemblies, classroom competitions, and celebrations of both individual and school-wide successes

  • Emphasize the importance of positive physical, mental, and emotional health for students and adults on campus.

  • Hold regular safety drills to support emergency preparedness

Parent and Community Involvement

• Promote engagement of all parents by creating a culture of inclusion through open and effective lines of communication and by providing families with meaningful opportunities to support and celebrate student learning and cultures.
